There have been several complaints that we don't answer the phone. Remember this is a volunteer organization that is only staffed during open hours. And unfortunately when we are open, the emphasis is to provide a good experience for our visitors. Most of the time, we don't even hear the phone ring!

If you leave a message, we will return the phone calls as soon as we are able.

You can also send us an email (lower right corner of every page), or private message us on our Facebook page. Thank you for your patience.

The Museum is open from May 1 through October 31.  Hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 AM ‘till 4 PM; and Sundays 1-4 PM.

Please call ahead for groups over 10 people, so we are sure to have sufficient staff available.

We're happy to arrange private tours with advance notice.   Please call the museum and leave a message: (931) 967-3078.  Someone will get back to you to verify arrangements.

President: Jarod Pearson

Visitor information

The Museum is open from May through October, Thursday through Saturday 10 AM ‘till 4 PM, and Sundays 1-4 PM. Other times can be arranged in advance by calling the museum and leaving a message: (931) 967-3078. We'll get back to you as quickly as we can.

Most visitors assume Cowan Railroad Museum is run by the City of Cowan, but it's not! CRM is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization run entirely by its members, and depends on donations, dues and contributions. We operate on a tight budget, and every penny counts.

Admission is only $2, but donations keep the doors open and lights on! Volunteers, new members and other donations are always welcome. The museum is recognized as an official railroad museum by the State of Tennessee, but sustains itself by gifts, dues and contributions. If you would like to help, just call the museum, or send an email to Jarod Pearson to discuss however you might like to participate.
